An Impactful Opportunity
Ohio Wesleyan Seeks to Hire Six Tenure-Track Professors for 2022-2023 Academic Year
DELAWARE, Ohio – Ohio Wesleyan University is accepting applications for six tenure-track professorships for the 2022-2023 academic year. The new faculty will be hired as a cohort with a collective focus on supporting the university’s work to provide the most connected, innovative, and relevant education possible.
The new cohort will build on the success of last year’s group hire, which brought six new faculty to campus this fall – each focused on furthering OWU’s strategic areas of focus.
Both cohorts represent an important ongoing commitment to Ohio Wesleyan’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Action Plan, launched in June 2020. The plan focuses on the areas of structure and policies, teaching and learning, recruiting and retaining students and employees, and campus climate.
In announcing the action plan, President Rock Jones, Ph.D., said it was intended to “create meaningful and immediate change” by uniting the campus to “stand together and work for change.”
Ohio Wesleyan currently is accepting applications at owu.edu/joinOWUfaculty for the following positions:
- Assistant Professor of Computer Science
- Assistant Professor of Education
- Assistant Professor of English
- Assistant Professor of Mathematics
- Assistant Professor of Physics
- Assistant Professor of Psychology
The new hires are critical to the university’s future, said Provost Karlyn Crowley, Ph.D., and will “allow Ohio Wesleyan to focus on what we do best and what our students and the world need most.”
“The faculty who join us will become part of an educational community that values flexibility, equity, and interdisciplinarity, and fosters close working relationships with students through our signature program in experiential learning, The OWU Connection,” Crowley said. “These positions also support our ongoing effort to create a diverse, inclusive, and antiracist campus community that celebrates the value of all persons.
“We look forward to welcoming our new tenure-track professors next year as Ohio Wesleyan continues to educate the next generation of engaged citizens and leaders,” she said.
At Ohio Wesleyan, 100 percent of full-time, tenure-track faculty hold a doctoral (Ph.D.) degree or the equivalent terminal degree in their field. In addition, all OWU professors are classroom teachers as the university does not have graduate teaching assistants. Ohio Wesleyan professors also serve as academic advisers and mentors, helping students to succeed and thrive as they work to earn their bachelor’s degree and plan their life’s path.
