The Ticket to Your First-Year Adventure
Welcome to OWU! Your OWU Passport is a guide to the many opportunities that await you in your first year at Ohio Wesleyan. Collect stamps for each milestone you complete! Students who complete them all are more likely to successfully navigate their first year.
Your passport is divided into sections, each of which lists different ways to achieve these milestones. Some of the milestones are silly; some are serious; some require a bit of effort; others are easy to accomplish. All of them are important to your college journey. Have fun and enjoy your first semester!
How This Works
Earn stamps by completing the milestones listed and charting your progress with the OWU Passport Log. You can also collect physical stamps at campus events.
Academic Expeditions
These milestones will put you on the path to academic success. Take advantage of the many academic resources OWU offers to support you in your academic journey.
Milestones
- Go to a faculty member's office hours
- Participate in a study group/review session
- Connect to potential majors by attending a department event
- Schedule a consultation with the Writing Center
- Attend a study skills workshop put on by the Sagan Academic Resource Center
- Consult a librarian for help with a project
- Find your favorite study space
- Go to a campus lecture
Plot Your Academic Journey
Four years may sound like a long time, but it takes a bit of planning to ensure that you can accomplish your goals. You'll work on your Academic Journey Map in CNX100, but these milestones will help you align your values and interests to ensure you can experience all you want to at OWU and beyond!
Milestones
- Meet with your advisor to discuss classes for next semester
- Complete the "Advising and Registration Tips" Blackboard course
- Attend the "Ready, Set, Register!" session at the OWU Connection Conference
- Register for classes via your Self-Service Cart
- Attend a session at the OWU Connection Conference that interests you
- Talk with a student mentor at the Service Learning Office/OWU Connection Office
- Visit the Career Connection Office
Explore the OWU Community
Think of each milestone as an opportunity to meet new people, explore new interests, and familiarize yourself with the OWU community. Yours isn't a solo journey! You are building a team of mentors and friends to support you and cheer you on as you go.

- Check out the Student Involvement Fair
- Experience one of OWU's cultural events
- Enjoy a live Performing Arts Department theater, music, or dance event
- Walk through an exhibit at the Ross Art Museum
- Attend a club meeting
- Sit in on a WCSA (student government) meeting
- Go to an event put on by your Resident Assistant (RA)
- Attend an event promoting student wellness
- Cheer on the Bishops at a sports event
- Eat at Late Night Breakfast
- Work out at the Simpson Querrey Fitness Center
- Visit the OWU Table downtown at Delaware's First Friday celebrations
Navigate Differences
You'll meet many people on your journey who share your hopes and dreams, but you'll also meet those with whom you disagree–on both minor and major issues. These milestones will help you approach new ideas and people with curiosity, compassion, and understanding.

- Attend a Sagan National Colloquium: Democracy Matters event
- Complete the Beginner Level of the Constructive Dialogue Institute (CDI) Perspectives online course
- Attend a constructive dialogue session at the OWU Connection Conference
- Complete the Advanced Level of the CDI Perspectives online course
