Experience: Theory-to-Practice Grant, “Authenticity and Understanding in the Mountainous Langtang Region of Nepal”
“I’ve been a part of a few Theory-To-Practice Grants now, and I find again and again that the most valuable part of the experience is just being exposed to people and culture that is different from our own.
“Getting to form relationships with people from other countries is invaluable, and it not only gives me a sense of what problems need to be addressed both in my own country and in the country I am visiting, but it also allows me to see everything in my life with a fresh perspective.
“It gives me more context for my academic coursework, it provides me examples of different social or political systems to draw inspiration from, and it drives me to want to be a better global citizen.
“Doing Theory-To-Practice Grants pushes me to have a more thorough understanding of world affairs and reminds me why it is so important for each of us to be an active participant in the policies of our country and our world.”
