Stuyin’ Up All Night
OWU’s Stuyvesant Hall is the place to be if you’re up for “Stuyin’ Up All Night” on Friday, October 12, from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. The campus-wide celebration marks the grand opening of “Stuy,” OWU’s oldest residential living facility, now in the final stretch of its 15-month restoration to the beautiful and elegant hall it once was.
“Our students [living there] have been so patient,” says Craig Ullom, vice president for student affairs. “We wanted to plan a student-focused grand opening.”
Meredith Dixon, residential life coordinator at Stuyvesant and Hayes Halls and coordinator of the Friday night festivities agrees. “There has been work going on around them in the common areas of the building and as we completed the flooring. We really appreciate our students’ understanding and patience. We want this celebration to be fun!”
On the fun-filled agenda are:
Faculty, staff, and student performances All-night cooking demonstrations and tastings Stuy Courtyard cookout starting at 6 p.m. Video games Roving magician Stuy Café samples provided by Chartwells Tailgate party (come make your signs for the Saturday football game; John Rush, “Human iPod” Visit to the bell tower and “ghosts of Stuyvesant Hall” with John Ciochetty Dance party“Thanks to our resident advisors and moderators as well as the Campus Programming Board as we divided and conquered areas of coordination in planning this event,” says Dixon. “We’re ready to celebrate!”
