Kevin “Squishy Man” Barber

DELAWARE, Ohio – Traveling therapist and comedy counselor Kevin “Squishy Man” Barber will provide a “universal – and fun – voice of recovery” when he gives a free public performance at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Barber will speak at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 in Phillips Auditorium, 50 S. Henry St., Delaware. His appearance coincides with national Mental Health Awareness Week – designed to fight stigma, provide support, educate the public, and advocate for equal care for mental health issues. Light refreshments will be served.

Barber is a licensed specialist clinical social worker, inspirational and motivational speaker, and culture diversity trainer who has performed across the United States with comics including Bernie Mac, Sarah Silverman, and Jimmy “JJ” Walker.

Of Barber’s performances, the Chicago Tribune writes, “It’s the best hour you’ll ever spend in therapy, without a huge co-pay!”

Barber’s Delaware presentation is sponsored by Active Minds, a student-run mental health awareness organization at Ohio Wesleyan, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Delaware & Morrow Counties.
