Sarah Hahn ’08 discusses her artwork – Classical Style Sculpture with a Twist

Sarah Hahn ’08
Sarah Hahn is featured in the Greater Columbus (Ohio) Arts Council artist profile series, where she discusses her artwork and inspiration. Hahn’s creations harken back to “the classic works of Ancient Greece, but with a twist.” According to the article, she creates “vibrant sculptures of some of today’s most well-known figures in the Classical style,” presenting “a clever and pointed perspective of our current popular culture and society.” Hahn currently is working on a Kanye West and Kim Kardashian piece that will be made into a champagne fountain.

Michael Murphy ’77
Michael Murphy discusses his new book, “EAT DAT,” which he says is “built around stories rather than recipes or menus.” “I first came to New Orleans in 1983 to work with Anne Rice, was completely seduced by this amazing city, and finally got to move here in 2009,” Murphy tells writer Jeff Rivera. “I am never leaving. … “To be passionate about New Orleans starts with being in love with our food.”

Mark Beckenbach ’81
Mark Beckenbach, sports information director for Ohio Wesleyan, is selected to receive the 2014 Warren Berg Award presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). In its announcement, the organization states: “A dedicated member and leader of the Academic All-America® Committee since 1990, Beckenbach’s distinguished career has been recognized by CoSIDA before as a Lester Jordan winner (for outstanding support and promotion of CoSIDA’s Academic All-America program) and as a member of the Hall of Fame class of 2011.” Beckenbach currently is co-chair of the Academic All-America® Committee. Upon learning of Beckenbach’s latest honor, OWU Athletics Director Roger Ingles said: “Mark Beckenbach is a truly outstanding sports information director who puts countless hours and effort into everything he does. We are most fortunate to have him at Ohio Wesleyan.”
