OWU Theatre Students Present Original “Photo Plays”

(Video produced by Christina Fesz ’12)

A collage of original plays created by 26 Ohio Wesleyan University student playwrights, directors, and actors was presented in March 2011 with “PHOTO PLAYS! Flashes of Brilliance.” Based on the 24-hour theatre concept, the performances evolved over four consecutive six-day “labs.”

First, the actors were photographed wearing a costume and carrying a prop of their choosing. A director then selected photos of actors and gave the images to a playwright, who had two days to write a short playscript. The director then had two days to rehearse the playscript with the actors before it was showcased for all company members. This video highlights portions from some of the short productions.
