OWU Students Hear from Marketing Pros
Ohio Wesleyan students had the opportunity to hear from and interact with two prominent marketing and communications professionals in April. Former Kellogg and ING marketing executive Thomas Fink served as the Woltemade’s Center’s Executive-in-Residence during the week of April 9. Fink recently retired after a 40-plus year career that included stints as a senior marketing strategist with the Kellogg Company and ING Group. During his stay on campus, Fink lived in the Bigelow-Reed House, and spoke to classes and student groups each day, as well as members of the OWU marketing club. He also conducted individual sessions with students to help them with their career plans.
Later in the week, Ohio Wesleyan alumnus Tom Goodman ’76, returned to campus to share his knowledge and experience with OWU students. Goodman is president and CEO of Goodman Media International, a leading public relations agency in New York City. On April 13, he spoke with students about job-hunting and interview skills. On April 14, he met with students at the Bigelow-Reed House to discuss the changing world of public relations in the new era of social and digital media. Goodman also offered advice to students about possible internship and job opportunities.
“What an incredible opportunity it was for our students to interact with these two incredibly accomplished veterans in the fields of marketing and public relations,” said Alice Simon, co-director of the Woltemade Center for Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship, and James Heisler Professor of Economics. “The introduction of the Bigelow-Reed House this year has allowed us to bring internationally prominent business professionals into close contact with our students, who benefit from their vast experience and their willingness to help OWU students advance their career prospects.”
