OWU Maintains Exclusive Hold on NCAC’s Top Male Athlete Award

For the fourth consecutive year, an Ohio Wesleyan athlete has captured the North Coast Athletic Conference’s Don Hunsinger Award as the conference’s top male athlete. Sharif Kronemer ’12 was named the recipient of this year’s award, which has gone to an Ohio Wesleyan athlete every year since it was established. The award is named for former Oberlin administrator and coach Don Hunsinger, and recognizes a male senior student-athlete who has distinguished himself throughout his collegiate career in the areas of academic achievement, athletic excellence, service, and leadership.

2011: Kyle Herman 2010: J. David Gatz 2009: Kyle HollidayKronemer was three-time All-NCAC performer in cross country and a two-time all-conference pick in track & field. He helped guide OWU to four NCAC team titles throughout his career. In the classroom, Kronemer posted a 3.80 grade-point-average as a neuroscience major and a philosophy minor. He was selected to Phi Beta Kappa, and also earned the Dale J. Bruce Presidential Scholar Athlete of the Year honor for the second consecutive year. He received the Outstanding Meek Leader Award for the 2011-12 academic year and a number of other academic honors, ending his undergraduate career by earning an NCAA postgraduate scholarship.
Kronemer was active in a wide range of service activities and organizations. He will begin a masters program this fall in cognitive neuroscience at the University College London.
