Ohio Wesleyan’s Woltemade Center Hires Administrative Director
DELAWARE, Ohio – Ohio Wesleyan University today announced the appointment of 2005 OWU graduate Megan R. (Sanders) Ellis as administrative director of The Woltemade Center for Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship.
In her new role, Ellis will work to implement the center’s strategic vision, benefiting students and enhancing the center’s national impact and visibility in the fields of economics, finance, marketing, management, entrepreneurship, accounting, and international business.
“It is with extreme pleasure that the Woltemade Center announces the hiring of its first administrative director,” said Alice E. Simon, Ph.D., The Louis A. Simpson ’58 Endowed Faculty Director of The Woltemade Center for Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship. “Megan was the unanimous choice of the search committee, and I’m confident she will help the Woltemade Center advance to the next level in its efforts to educate students and serve as a go-to business resource.”
At Ohio Wesleyan, Ellis majored in economics with a management concentration and minored in psychology. She graduated cum laude and was a member of both the Omicron Delta Epsilon International Honor Society for Economics and the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology. She served as a member of the President’s Club and the Wesleyan Council on Students Affairs, and she was member of the Delta Gamma sorority. Ellis has remained active with her alma mater by serving as a guest speaker for business programs, providing externship (short-term internship) opportunities for students, and helping to coordinate her 10-year OWU class reunion.
Prior to joining the Woltemade Center, Ellis served as the director of development and outreach at Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Franklin County, where her responsibilities included securing budget funds, planning and executing special events, creating a new website and a social media presence, designing marketing materials, and working with news media. She previously worked as the director of development and communications for Cancer Support Community Central Ohio. Her new position is funded by the Woltemade Center’s Alumni Advisory Board.
Established in 1985, Ohio Wesleyan’s Woltemade Center works to enhance teaching, learning, research, and community service at the university. The center is named in honor of the late Uwe J. Woltemade, Ph.D., an Ohio Wesleyan economics faculty member from 1965 to1995. Grants and gifts from the Cleveland Foundation, the Ford Motor Co. Fund, alumni, and friends also were used to help establish the facility.
The Woltemade Center provides opportunities for students to become Corns Business and Entrepreneurial Scholars and Economics Management Fellows, to complete meaningful internships through the Blaine E. Grimes Summer Grant Program, to collaborate with faculty on research projects through the Norman Leonard Endowed Student Research Grant Fund, to participate in the Burton D. Morgan Student Paper Competition, to be nominated for the Woltemade Prize, and to be selected for the Joann P. Harvey Accounting Award. The center also assists a number of student organizations, including the OWU Marketing Group and the university’s Investment Club.
