With approximately 600 students, Ohio Wesleyan’s Class of 2016 represents the university’s largest incoming class in more than five years. The Class of 2016 has an average grade point average of 3.5 and includes 20 students who served as their high school valedictorians. Of the students reporting class rank, 33 percent were in the top 10 percent of their high school classes, and 63 percent were in the top 25 percent. Ohio Wesleyan’s Class of 2016 will be 50 percent male and 50 percent female.
For those who have declared majors, the largest numbers of new students plan to study pre-medicine, followed closely by economics management, biology, and education.
As part of this year’s convocation, President Rock Jones, Ph.D., will give remarks and ring in the academic year with a ceremonial bell that has been used to call classes together at Ohio Wesleyan since its founding in 1842.
Additional convocation speakers will include student Anthony McGuire, a senior from Wellington, New Zealand, and president of the Wesleyan Council on Student Affairs. McGuire is an economics and politics and government double major.
