Ohio Wesleyan University Appoints Dan Hitchell, M.B.A., as Vice President for Finance and Administration and Treasurer

DELAWARE, Ohio – Ohio Wesleyan University has appointed Dan Hitchell, M.B.A., as vice president for finance and administration and treasurer of the university. Hitchell previously served as associate vice president for resource planning and budget at Webster University in St. Louis. He will join Ohio Wesleyan in January.
“Dan Hitchell brings a wealth of budget, facilities management, and other experience to Ohio Wesleyan,” said President Rock Jones, Ph.D. “His expertise will be invaluable as we continue to work strategically to refurbish and expand our residential facilities and to build our endowment. Ohio Wesleyan is rich with potential, and Dan will help us to realize this potential and achieve our goals of providing a positive, life-changing educational experience for each and every one of our students.”
Hitchell served six years at Webster University, a private, nonprofit liberal arts university, where his responsibilities included budgeting, operational planning, strategic planning, risk management, financial analyses, procurement, facilities operations, construction management, capital projects, capital financing strategies, and real estate management. While at Webster, he also served on the university’s strategic planning committee, program review committee, and university press.
He previously worked for 15 years at Saint Louis University, serving as both its manager and, later, director of financial planning and budgeting. At the university, Hitchell was responsible for managing the annual budget process. He also served leadership roles in conducting a program revenue and cost assessment and in developing annual employee benefit plans.
Hitchell earned his Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Evansville and his Bachelor of Science degree in quantitative business analysis at Western Kentucky University.
