Ohio Wesleyan University Announces November 2014 Public Events

DELAWARE, OH – Ohio Wesleyan University today announced its November 2014 lineup of public events. Unless otherwise noted, admission is free. Now through Nov. 2 – “The Wonder of it All,” an exhibition of photography by Ohio Wesleyan graduate Clark Winter, Class of 1973, and “Metamorphosis,” an exhibition of fabric art and woven baskets by Pamela Becker, OWU Class of 1964, in the Richard M. Ross Art Museum, 60 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. Oct. 13 through Dec. 18 – Water-themed photography in two Ohio Wesleyan galleries by Rick Buchanan, a Columbus, Ohio-based commercial and fine arts photographer, and by OWU graduate Dwight Hiscano, Class of 1985. The theme is in conjunction with Ohio Wesleyan’s 2014 Sagan National Colloquium, “H2OWU: Water in Our World.” In his work, Buchanan seeks to capture “the grand landscapes as well as the details and textures that sometimes are missed in our natural world.” Hiscano says his images “humbly attempt to reflect and depict the perfection with which the Earth was created.” Learn more, respectively, at www.rickbuchananphotography.com and www.dwighthiscano.com. 4:10 p.m. Nov. 3 – Poet and essayist Adam Kirsch, called “one of the very best literary/cultural critics writing today,” will speak in Benes Rooms A and B of Hamilton-Williams Campus Center, 40 Rowland Ave., Delaware. Kirsch is a senior editor at the New Republic and writes for The New Yorker. His latest book, “Rocket and Lightship: Essays on Literature and Ideas,” will be published in November. Nov. 9 through Dec. 18 –Exhibitions of sculpture by cultural mythologist Elizabeth Fergus-Jean and photography by John Fergus-Jean, both faculty members at Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD). Elizabeth Fergus-Jean also lectures nationally on creativity, visual understanding, and archetypes in media.
