Ohio Wesleyan University Announces January Public Events

DELAWARE, OH – Ohio Wesleyan University today announced its January lineup of public events. Unless otherwise noted, all events are free of charge. For the latest OWU event information, including schedule updates, visit Events @ OWU.

5:30 p.m. Jan.2 – OWU Men’s Basketball versus Capital University, in Branch Rickey Arena, 105 S. Sandusky St. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for students. This event will be streamed live and archived at StreamOWU.

7:30 p.m. Jan. 2 – OWU Women’s Basketball versus Capital University, in Branch Rickey Arena, 105 S. Sandusky St. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for students. This event will be streamed live and archived at StreamOWU.

Jan. 3 through Feb. 10 – Photographs by Mohsen Shirzadian, OWU Class of 1983, in the Alumni Gallery in Mowry Alumni Center, 16 Rowland Ave. The Alumni Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Jan. 3 through Feb. 10 – Floral photographs by Julia Hollingsworth McLemore, featuring images that capture and share the interior beauty of plants, in Gallery 2001 in Beeghly Library, 43 Rowland Ave. Gallery hours coincide with library hours and are available at library.owu.edu/hours.htm.

8 p.m. Jan. 6, 13, 20, and 27 – Evening programs at Ohio Wesleyan’s Perkins Observatory, 3199 Columbus Pike (U.S. 23), Delaware. Content varies based on sky conditions, but may include a planetarium show, observatory tours, and star gazing with the 32-inch Schottland Telescope. Advance tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children and senior citizens. Call (740) 363-1257 for reservations.

7:30 p.m. Jan. 6 – OWU Women’s Basketball versus Oberlin College, in Branch Rickey Arena, 105 S. Sandusky St. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for students. This event will be streamed live and archived at StreamOWU.

3 p.m. Jan. 7 – OWU Men’s Basketball versus Wittenberg University, in Branch Rickey Arena, 105 S. Sandusky St. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for students. This event will be streamed live and archived at StreamOWU.

7:45 a.m. Jan. 16 – Ohio Wesleyan University and the Delaware County Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee will hold the Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast Celebration, in the Benes Rooms in Hamilton-Williams Campus Center, 40 Rowland Ave. Tickets are $20 and may be reserved by emailing rdscott@owu.edu.

Jan. 17 through Feb. 5 – “Mixed Messages,” Ohio Wesleyan fine arts studio faculty exhibition, in the Richard M. Ross Art Museum, 60 S. Sandusky St. The museum is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The museum is handicap-accessible and admission is always free. 8 p.m. Jan. 19 – New Vistas in Astronomy lecture featuring Todd Thompson, Ph.D., associate professor of astronomy at The Ohio State University, discussing “Triple Stars and the Merger of Compact Objects,” at Ohio Wesleyan’s Perkins Observatory, 3199 Columbus Pike (U.S. 23), Delaware. 6 p.m. Jan. 20 – OWU Men’s and Women’s Swim Teams versus The University of Findlay, in the Meek Aquatics and Recreation Center, 150 S. Henry St.

Jan. 21 – OWU Men’s and Women’s Swim Teams host the daylong OWU Invitational, in the Meek Aquatics and Recreation Center, 150 S. Henry St.

2 p.m. Jan. 21 – OWU Women’s Basketball versus Kenyon College, in Branch Rickey Arena, 105 S. Sandusky St. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for students. This event will be streamed live and archived at StreamOWU.

5 p.m. Jan. 21 – OWU Men’s and Women’s Track & Field host the OWU Quadrangular, in Gordon Field House in the Branch Rickey Center, 105 S. Sandusky St.

7 p.m. Jan. 21 – 48th annual President’s High School Band Festival, featuring Ohio Wesleyan’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Park Avenue Jazz Ensemble along with high school musicians from up to seven states, in Gray Chapel in University Hall, 61 S. Sandusky St.

7:30 p.m. Jan. 25– OWU Men’s Basketball versus Wabash College, in Branch Rickey Arena, 105 S. Sandusky St. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for students. This event will be streamed live and archived at StreamOWU.
