Ohio Wesleyan University Announces February Public Events

DELAWARE, OH – Ohio Wesleyan University today announced its February lineup of public events. Unless otherwise noted, all events are free of charge. For the latest OWU event information, including schedule updates, visit Events @ OWU

Through Feb. 5 – “Mixed Messages,” Ohio Wesleyan fine arts studio faculty exhibition, in the Richard M. Ross Art Museum, 60 S. Sandusky St. The museum is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The museum is handicap-accessible and admission is always free. Through Feb. 10 – Photographs by Mohsen Shirzadian, OWU Class of 1983, in the Alumni Gallery in Mowry Alumni Center, 16 Rowland Ave. The Alumni Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Through Feb. 10 – Floral photographs by Julia Hollingsworth McLemore, featuring images that capture and share the interior beauty of plants, in Gallery 2001 in Beeghly Library, 43 Rowland Ave. Gallery hours coincide with library hours and are available at library.owu.edu/hours.htm.

4:10 p.m. Feb.2 – The OWU Science Lecture Series presents Matt Shawkey, Ph.D., of the University of Akron discussing dinosaur and bird evolution, in Room 163 of the Schimmel/Conrades Science Center, 90 S. Henry St.

8 p.m. Feb. 3 – The Ohio Wesleyan Performing Arts Series presents The Rose Ensemble performing “Land of Three Faiths: Voices of Ancient Mediterranean Jews, Christians, and Muslims,” in Gray Chapel in University Hall, 61 S. Sandusky St. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $5 for non-OWU students and seniors, and free for OWU students and employees. 8 p.m. Feb. 3, 10, 17, and 24 – Evening programs at Ohio Wesleyan’s Perkins Observatory, 3199 Columbus Pike (U.S. 23), Delaware. Content varies based on sky conditions, but may include a planetarium show, observatory tours, and star gazing with the 32-inch Schottland Telescope. 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27 – 2012 Environmental and Natural Resource Symposium, discussing recent innovations in conventional and alternative sources of energy, in the Benes Rooms in Hamilton-Williams Campus Center, 40 Rowland Ave. Scheduled panelists include Gordon Aubrecht, Ph.D., physics professor for The Ohio State University at Marion; Sean Kinghorn, OWU’s energy conservation and sustainability coordinator; and Paul Centolella, J.D., commissioner for the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.
