Ohio Wesleyan University Announces December Public Events
DELAWARE, OH – Ohio Wesleyan University today announced its December 2012 lineup of public events. Unless otherwise noted, all events are free of charge. Through Dec. 20 – “Tamarind Touchstones: Fabulous at Fifty,” a celebration of excellence in fine art lithography, in the Richard M. Ross Art Museum, 60 S. Sandusky St. The museum is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The museum is handicap-accessible and admission is always free. Noon Dec. 1 – The Ohio Wesleyan Department of Music presents a “Choral Art Luncheon Concert,” in the Benes Rooms inside Hamilton-Williams Campus Center, 40 Rowland Ave. Tickets are $25 each and are available by calling (740) 368-3702 or by emailing musicd@owu.edu.
8 p.m. Dec. 1 – Double/Take, an evening-length dance performance with original music and part of the Ohio Wesleyan Performing Arts Series, in Chappelear Drama Center, 45 Rowland Ave. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $5 for senior citizens and non-Ohio Wesleyan students (with a valid school ID). Tickets are free for Ohio Wesleyan students and employees with a valid OWU ID. 5:15 p.m. Dec. 3 – Fifth Annual Christmas Tree Lighting in memory of Ron Hudler (OWU Class of 1956), in front of Sturges Hall near the intersections of South Sandusky Street and Park Avenue. The event will feature music by Pitch Black, OWU’s female a capella group, and refreshments including cookies, cider, and hot chocolate. It is sponsored by the OWU Spirit and Homecoming Organization, Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, and University Advancement Office.
8 p.m. Dec. 4 – The Ohio Wesleyan Department of Music presents the Chamber Orchestra, directed by Michael Malone, in Gray Chapel inside University Hall, 61 S. Sandusky St.
8 p.m. Dec. 7 and Dec. 8 – The Ohio Wesleyan Department of Theatre & Dance presents one-act plays from students in directing and playwriting classes, on the Main Stage in Chappelear Drama Center, 45 Rowland Ave. May contain adult themes and language.
8 p.m. Dec. 7, 14, and 21– Evening programs at Ohio Wesleyan’s Perkins Observatory, 3199 Columbus Pike (U.S. 23), Delaware. Content varies based on sky conditions, but may include a planetarium show, observatory tours, and star gazing with the 32-inch Schottland Telescope. Advance tickets are $8 for adults, and $6 for children and senior citizens. Reserve tickets by calling (740) 363-1257.

Dec. 26-April 16, 2013 – Xiamen photocollage by Susan Shafer, Ohio Wesleyan Class of 1959, in the Alumni Gallery in Mowry Alumni Center, 16 Rowland Ave. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
Dec. 29-Dec. 30 – OWU Women’s Basketball Bishop Classic/Hoops for Hope, at Branch Rickey Arena, 105 S. Sandusky St. (This annual event raises money for breast cancer awareness, education, and research.) This event will be streamed live and archived afterward at StreamOWU.
