Ohio Wesleyan to Present ‘The Passion of Dracula’

DELAWARE, OHIO – It promises to be a show that theatre-goers can sink their teeth into.
The Ohio Wesleyan University Department of Theatre & Dance will present “The Passion of Dracula” for five performances in February. Written by Bob Hall and David Richmond, this updated version of the classic Bram Stoker novel is filled with suspense, romance, special effects, and humor.
The play takes place in 1911 in the English countryside and follows the fang-filled suspense that ensues when Count Dracula moves into the area near the ominous Whitby Sanatorium.
Performances will be held at 8 p.m. Feb. 8, 9, 15, and 16, and at 2 p.m. Feb. 17 on the Main Stage of Chappelear Drama Center, 45 Rowland Ave., Delaware, on the Ohio Wesleyan campus.
The production is directed by professor Elane Denny-Todd, M.F.A., and involves more than 50 students. The scenic design is by Chad Knutson, lighting design by guest artist Jeff Gress, and costume design by Jackie Shelley. Stage management is by Ohio Wesleyan students Kati Sweigard, a junior from North Olmsted, Ohio, and Andrea Kraus, a senior from Kissimmee, Fla.

Ticket prices are $10 for general admission and $5 for Ohio Wesleyan employees, non-OWU students, and senior citizens. Admission is free for Ohio Wesleyan students with a valid ID courtesy of a grant from the Wesleyan Council on Student Affairs.
