Ohio Wesleyan to Host 8th Annual Bishop Classic/Hoops for Hope Tournament

DELAWARE, OHIO — The eighth annual Bishop Classic/Hoops for Hope women’s basketball tournament to raise money for breast cancer awareness, education, and research will be held Dec. 30 and Dec. 31 at Ohio Wesleyan University’s Branch Rickey Arena, 105 S. Sandusky St., Delaware.

The event will tip off at 6 p.m. Dec. 30, when the Battling Bishops take on the Franklin College Grizzlies of Franklin, Indiana. It will continue at 8 p.m., when the Hope College Flying Dutch of Holland, Michigan, take on the York College Spartans of York, Pennsylvania.

On Dec. 31, the tournament will feature Franklin vs. York at 1 p.m., followed by the Bishops vs. Hope at 3 p.m. Hope currently is ranked No. 14 in D3hoops.com’s weekly poll.

Admission to all Hoops for Hope tournament games is free, but monetary contributions will be accepted to benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund®, which supports scientific research for women’s cancers. The fund operates in partnership with the V Foundation for Cancer Research. To date, the Ohio Wesleyan annual tournament has raised more than $5,000 for cancer research.

Ohio Wesleyan’s games are scheduled to be streamed live online at https://www.owu.edu/about/follow-owu/stream-owu/. The two-day tournament is sponsored by Amato’s Woodfired Pizza, 8 S. Sandusky St., Delaware.
