Ohio Wesleyan to Host ‘A Portable Theatre’ Jan. 24

DELAWARE, Ohio – Ohio Wesleyan University’s 2014-2015 Performing Arts Series will continue Jan. 24 when four actors from Upper Arlington-based A Portable Theatre come to campus for a one-night-only performance of “Tales from the Grave” based on ghost stories by Charles Dickens, Edgar Allan Poe, and Robert Louis Stevenson.

The crowd-pleasing show uses an old-time “live radio” format and promises eerie entertainment for all. “Tales from the Grave,” adapted by A Portable Theatre founder Geoffrey Nelson, will be performed at 8 p.m. on the Main Stage of Ohio Wesleyan’s Chappelear Drama Center, 45 Rowland Ave., Delaware. In addition to classic ghost stories, the performance will include live sound effects and radio commercials. Afterward, the actors will discuss the play with the audience.

The cast of “Tales from the Grave” features veteran actors Damian Bowerman, Jon Farris, Jonathan Putnam, and Ed Vaughan. All are members of Actors Equity Association and the union of professional stage actors, and have many years of stage experience in central Ohio and beyond. APT is a professional touring company whose mission is to “create professional theatre for the enrichment of communities throughout Ohio.” Learn more at www.aportabletheatre.com.
