Ohio Wesleyan Theatre & Dance Department Presents ‘Ring Round the Moon’

DELAWARE, OHIO – Romance will fill the air at Ohio Wesleyan University when the Department of Theatre & Dance presents the play “Ring Round the Moon,” a witty, whimsical comedy filled with the twists and turns of mistaken identities and misguided love.

“Ring Round the Moon” will be performed at 8 p.m. April 13, 14, 20, and 21, and at 2 p.m. April 22 on the Main Stage of Chappelear Drama Center, 45 Rowland Ave., Delaware, on the Ohio Wesleyan campus. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for senior citizens, Ohio Wesleyan employees, and non-Ohio Wesleyan students. Admission is free for Ohio Wesleyan students with a valid ID. “Ring Round the Moon” was written in 1947 by French playwright Jean Anouilh and later adapted and translated by English playwright Christopher Fry. Anouilh also is known for “The Waltz of the Toreadors,” “The Lark,” and “Becket.”

“Ring Round the Moon” is set during a ball at a French château and features a mysterious dancer, a set of identical twins, wealthy guests, and a wily aunt.

Ohio Wesleyan’s production is directed by Edward Kahn, Ph.D., associate professor of theatre & dance, with set design by D. Glen Vanderbilt Jr., M.F.A.; costumes by Jacqueline Shelley, M.F.A.; and lighting by senior Ed Howland of Somerville, Mass., who is completing his capstone theatre experience. Junior Leah Shaeffer of Columbus, Ohio, is serving as stage manager.
