Ohio Wesleyan Students Present ‘Stonewater Rapture’
DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University Department of Theatre & Dance will present a senior project production of “The Stonewater Rapture” by Doug Wright. Performances will be at 8 p.m. Oct. 25 and Oct. 26 in the Studio Theatre in Chappelear Drama Center, 45 Rowland Ave., Delaware.
Tickets are free for everyone, but seating is limited. Tickets may be picked up in the theatre office during normal business hours or at the door prior to the performance.
“The Stonewater Rapture” follows a high school couple as they explore sexuality in a small Texas town, where God and football reign supreme. The teens face bullying, homophobia, religious dogma, and sexual assault – all while figuring out who they are and who they want to be. The play depicts sexual violence and is recommended for mature audiences.
The production is the senior project of Ohio Wesleyan students Jackie Amanna of Raleigh, N.C.; Claire Hackett of Chevy Chase, Md.; and Matthew Jamison of Houston, Texas. An interactive talkback will follow the Oct. 26 performance.
