Ohio Wesleyan University was selected to host the 2014 NCAA Division III outdoor track & field championships, it was announced by the NCAA on November 1.

“I am thrilled to learn that the NCAA Division III track & field championships will return to Ohio Wesleyan in 2014,” said Ohio Wesleyan President Rock Jones, Ph.D. “This is one of the premier athletic events in all of Division III, featuring more student-athletes representing more colleges and universities than any other event in our division. As Division III student-athletes, the competitors receive no financial assistance because of athletic prowess. Yet they compete at the highest level, training for years for these championships while remaining equally devoted to their academic work and to their preparation for careers as leaders in the professions and every sector of our society. The city of Delaware and the campus of Ohio Wesleyan are fortunate to again be chosen to host these exciting championships.”

“It is exciting to once again be hosting the outdoor national championships at Selby Stadium and the George Gauthier Track,” said Ohio Wesleyan athletics director Roger Ingles. “This is a compliment to the outstanding job our staff and coaches did in hosting in 2011. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Delaware, Ohio, for another great week of track and field in May 2014.”

“We’re proud to be selected to host the 2014 NCAA Division III outdoor track & field championships,” said Kris Boey, director of track & field and cross country and head track & field coach at Ohio Wesleyan.  “The 2011 NCAA championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan were an outstanding event for all involved.  This event will bring the best in Division III to our campus and community once again, allowing OWU to shine in a national spotlight.  We appreciate the support of President Rock Jones and Director of Athletics Roger Ingles that was so apparent to the NCAA committee and played a major role in the selection.”

The 2014 championships are set for Thursday-Saturday, May 22-24, 2014.
