Ohio Wesleyan Professor Featured in New History Documentary

DELAWARE, OHIO – Ohio Wesleyan University professor Michael W. Flamm is making History – literally. Flamm, Ph.D., an OWU history professor since 1998, is among the experts interviewed for the History television channel’s new series “The Ultimate Guide to the Presidents.”
The four-part series debuted on A&E Television Networks’ History (formerly The History Channel) on Jan. 15, with comments from Flamm included in two of the episodes: “Hail to the Chief 1945-1964” and “Mantle of Power 1965-2013.”
According to History, the series offers “a fresh perspective on how the Oval Office has evolved over the past 200 years through stories about the 43 men who have served as commander-in-chief. This eight-hour miniseries concentrates on the ebbs and flows of presidential power and responsibilities as each of America’s leaders deals with the events, expectations and challenges of his time.”
Flamm was interviewed on presidents beginning with John F. Kennedy. At Ohio Wesleyan, Flamm teaches a broad range of courses on U.S. history from 1877 to the present. He is the author or co-author of numerous articles and five books, including “Law and Order: Street Crime, Civil Unrest, and the Crisis of Liberalism in the 1960s” (2005), “Debating the 1960s: Liberal, Conservative, and Radical Perspectives” (2007), “Debating the Reagan Presidency” (2009), and “The Chicago Handbook for Teachers: A Practical Guide to the College Classroom” (2011).
He is a former Fulbright Senior Scholar and Fulbright Scholarship recipient. Flamm earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University and his Master of Arts, Master of Philosophy, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Columbia University.
