Ohio Wesleyan Professor Discusses Fulbright Experiences

David Caplan, Ph.D., an associate professor of English and associate director of creative writing at Ohio Wesleyan University, currently is serving as a Fulbright Lecturer in American Literature at the University of Liège in Belgium.

He discusses his experiences in a new video (above) and also reports that “The Fulbright lectureship has been keeping me happily busy. I have been teaching two classes at the University of Liège: one on contemporary American poetry and the other on contemporary American literature and the ‘god debates.’ ”

This is Caplan’s second Fulbright Scholarship. He earned his first in 2004, also enabling him to spend a semester teaching at the University of Liège, where today he is an affiliated researcher in the university’s Centre Interdisciplinaire de Poétique Appliquée.

While traveling abroad this semester, he also has spoken or is scheduled to speak at Bar Ilan University in Israel; the Stern House, an artist colony in Jerusalem; Ghent University in Belgium; the University of Bonn in Germany; and Trinity College in Ireland.
