Ohio Wesleyan Listed Among Top Business Accounting Schools

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. – Ohio Wesleyan University has been named one of the top U.S. business accounting schools by Accounting Careers For Dummies.com, a VRG website and exclusive online licensee of the “For Dummies” brand by John Wiley & Sons Publishing, Inc.

Award selection was determined by variables including academic rigor, academic selectivity, faculty experience, job placement/post-graduation results, educational value, accreditation, and financial aid availability.

According to Accounting Careers For Dummies.com: “Housed in one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country, Ohio Wesleyan University’s accounting program provides an interdisciplinary approach to accounting education. Faculty members use their own professional experiences to shape the curriculum, which is designed to prepare students for careers in the public and private sectors.”

Ohio Wesleyan associate professor of accounting Don Tecklenburg, M.B.A., C.P.A., said the university is pleased to be recognized among the best of the best.

“This is an affirmation of Ohio Wesleyan’s interdisciplinary approach to educating our students,” Tecklenburg said. “We offer a strong liberal arts curriculum to create well-rounded individuals, and we provide all of the accounting coursework necessary for professional certification. We think the breadth and depth we provide in all areas sets us apart.”

In announcing the awards, Accounting Careers For Dummies.com also noted that “[u]ndergraduate business programs have evolved significantly in recent years, with top schools even rivaling an MBA in some circles. Many business accounting programs are drawing top students in response to strong job opportunities, rich career choices, and highly competitive salaries for recent grads. In addition, many undergraduate business programs now incorporate educational approaches previously reserved for MBA students.”
