Ohio Wesleyan Included Among Nation’s Best in Three New College Guides
Ohio Wesleyan is featured in the newest college guides released by The Princeton Review, Forbes magazine, and Fiske.
DELAWARE, OHIO – Ohio Wesleyan University has been recognized for excellence in three new college search guides: The Princeton Review’s “The Best 377 Colleges,” Forbes magazine’s “America’s Top Colleges,” and “The Fiske Guide to Colleges 2013.”
For its guidebook, The Princeton Review asked college students across the country to complete an 80-question survey about their schools and personal campus experiences. Topics included assessments of their professors, fellow students, and campus environment.
Ohio Wesleyan students told The Princeton Review:
“Professors have amazing dedication to their students. They have office hours daily, respond to emails frequently, answer questions whenever available, and are active in all aspects of their students’ lives.” Fellow students are “outgoing [and] involved” and also “willing to try new things and meet new people.” The university features an “emphasis on having an international experience,” which is fostered “through our large percentage of international students, OWU’s travel learning courses, and studying abroad.”
Robert Franek, The Princeton Review’s senior vice president / publisher and author of “The Best 377 Colleges,” said schools had to provide a strong curriculum to be featured in this year’s guidebook.
“We commend Ohio Wesleyan for its outstanding academics, which is the primary criteria for our selection of schools for the book,” Franek said. “Our choices are based on institutional data we collect about schools, our visits to schools over the years, feedback we gather from students attending the schools, and the opinions of our staff and our 30-member National College Counselor Advisory Board.”
Ohio Wesleyan also is featured in The Princeton Review’s online list of “The Best Midwestern Colleges.”
In addition to The Princeton Review rankings, Ohio Wesleyan is included in three new Forbes magazine “America’s Top Colleges” rankings. Ohio Wesleyan is ranked at No. 170 among all colleges, No. 139 among private colleges, and No. 30 among Midwestern colleges. The Forbes rankings are based on five general categories, including post-graduate success, student satisfaction, and student success in earning competitive awards.
Ohio Wesleyan also is featured as one of “the best and most interesting” four-year colleges in the United States, Canada, and Great Britain in the “Fiske Guide to Colleges 2013.” The annual guide is compiled by former New York Times education editor Edward B. Fiske, considered a leading authority in college admissions.
