Ohio Wesleyan Earns Entry into CFA Institute University Recognition Program
DELAWARE, Ohio – Ohio Wesleyan University is the latest school welcomed into the CFA Institute University Recognition Program, acknowledging that Ohio Wesleyan’s Economics with Management major incorporates program guidelines for preparing students to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, widely regarded as the world’s most respected and recognized investment credential.
Entry into the program indicates that Ohio Wesleyan’s Economics with Management major has been acknowledged as incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
Entry into the CFA Institute University Recognition Program signals to potential students, employers, and the marketplace that Ohio Wesleyan’s curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to prepare students to sit for the CFA examinations. Through participation in this program, Ohio Wesleyan also is eligible to receive a limited number of student scholarships for the CFA Program each year.
“Students in these programs study the Candidate Body of Knowledge, which include knowledge, skills, and abilities that investment experts worldwide have identified as essential best practice,” said Stephen Horan, Ph.D., CFA, CIPM, Head, University Relations & Private Wealth. “By mastering the fundamentals of the CFA Program as well as the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, these future investment professionals join us in our mission to promote the highest standards of ethics, education, and professional excellence for the ultimate benefit of society.”
Ohio Wesleyan’s Economics with Management major includes core classes in both economics and business. Students build a foundation in macro- and micro-economic theory and research methods, as well as the business disciplines of marketing, accounting, and finance. Graduates often pursue careers ranging from social media marketing to investment banking, both in the United States and abroad. Many more go on to earn their MBAs, while some pursue doctorates.
