Ohio Wesleyan Dean of Students Elected to Leadership Role in Higher Education Organization
Kimberlie L. Goldsberry, Ph.D.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Ohio Wesleyan University Dean of Students Kimberlie L. Goldsberry, Ph.D., has been elected Region IV-East Director of NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. She will begin serving in March 2015.
NASPA is the leading association for the advancement, health, and sustainability of the student affairs profession. It provides professional development, advocacy, and research for 13,000 members in all 50 states, 25 countries, and 8 U.S. territories.
At Ohio Wesleyan, Goldsberry’s responsibilities are focused on the engagement of students in learning beyond the classroom. She supervises six of the nine units within the Division of Student Affairs: Multicultural Student Affairs, Student Conduct, Counseling Services, Student Involvement, Health Services, and Career Services.
Goldsberry also serves on numerous committees and co-chairs the Student Care Team and Retention Intervention Teams. One of her favorite responsibilities is advising the Wesleyan Council on Student Affairs (student government). During her five-year tenure at Ohio Wesleyan, Goldsberry also has been part two Travel-Learning Courses to Italy.
Goldsberry earned her doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration from Ohio University and holds both a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Arts in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University. During her career in higher education, Goldsberry has worked in a variety of student affairs functional areas at Bowling Green, Oakland University, The University of Findlay, and Xavier University before coming to Ohio Wesleyan in August 2009.
Goldsberry has been actively involved in her profession and community. Her involvement with NASPA includes service on the NASPA Center for Women, NASPA Region IV-E Conference Planning Committees, and as the NASPA Membership Coordinator for the State of Ohio. She graduated from the Alice Manicur Institute for Aspiring Senior Student Affairs Officers and participated in the Small College Institute.
“We are a region with a deep history of leadership in NASPA, full of amazing professional education programs, and a vast array and number of institutions of higher learning,” Goldsberry said. “I believe that foundation is what makes IV-East strong and resilient. As the higher education landscape continues to change rapidly, NASPA and IV-East will need to be forward-thinking and plan in a manner that still allows us to be nimble.”
