Ohio Wesleyan Appoints Chief Communications Officer

DELAWARE, Ohio – Ohio Wesleyan University today announced the appointment of Will Kopp as its chief communications officer. In his new role, Kopp will lead a team of seven marketing and media professionals and serve as a key adviser to the president, senior officers, and other university stakeholders.
Kopp most recently worked as vice president of marketing and communications for Columbus State Community College, where he oversaw marketing, public relations, media relations, advertising, publications, social media, and executive and employee communications. Prior to joining Columbus State in 2004, Kopp worked as a speechwriter for The Ohio State University and as the manager of corporate marketing and executive communications for Columbus-based Battelle Memorial Institute.

While at Columbus State, Kopp developed a national-award-winning advertising campaign to increase enrollment, created newsletters for high school students and community leaders that earned best-in-the-nation honors from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations, and launched video and social media communication programs that earned national awards for their innovation and impact.

Kopp holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio University and a master’s degree in English from Ohio State. He and his wife, Sue, live in Westerville, where his community involvement includes serving as a board member for the Westerville Symphony.
