Ohio Wesleyan Appoints Associate Dean for Student Success
Kristin J. Weyman to Support Personal, Academic Achievements of OWU Students
DELAWARE, Ohio – Ohio Wesleyan University today announced the appointment of Kristin J. Weyman as its new associate dean for student success.
Weyman currently serves as the associate dean of students and the dean for first- and second-year students at Claremont McKenna College in California, a private, residential liberal arts college with 1,250 undergraduate students.
At Ohio Wesleyan, Weyman will oversee the areas of multicultural student affairs, counseling services, and student conduct. Weyman also will serve as a liaison to the student health center (operated by OhioHealth), and she will help to lead OWU’s care and concern team and its retention intervention team. Her primary focus will be to ensure that Ohio Wesleyan students experiencing personal and academic challenges receive the support they need to overcome their issues and earn their degrees.
Weyman will report to Dwayne K. Todd, Ph.D., Ohio Wesleyan’s vice president for student engagement and success, and dean of students.
“Kristin brings a tremendous skill set and solid record of success in helping students to achieve their educational aspirations,” Todd said. “At Claremont McKenna, Kristin’s accomplishments have included developing and implementing a more deeply engaging student-orientation experience; a faster, more responsive student-conduct process; and a standardized protocol for health referrals related to issues of substance abuse.”
Before joining Claremont McKenna in 2013, Weyman worked for nearly three years as the assistant director for housing and programs at Sewanee: The University of the South in Tennessee. Before that, she served for more than three years as the coordinator of first-year programs at Washington University in St. Louis.
Weyman is actively involved in several professional organizations, including NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education and NODA: National Orientation Directors Association.
She earned her Master of Science degree in Higher Education Administration and Policy from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Italian, magna cum laude, from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont. Her undergraduate experience included study abroad at Middlebury College School in Italy and Università degli Studi di Ferrara.
Weyman, who will join the Ohio Wesleyan staff in July, said she is excited to become a Bishop.
“In my visit to campus, I was impressed with how the entire community is inspired to collaborate in finding new and better ways to help students succeed,” Weyman said. “I’m thrilled to be stepping into this new role, and I look forward to working with and supporting the engaging and dynamic students at OWU.”
