New York Times Praises Journal Co-Edited by Ohio Wesleyan Professor

New York Times writer Mark Oppenheimer recommends the spring issue of the Virginia Quarterly Review, which examines the state of American poetry and is co-edited by OWU’s David Caplan, Ph.D., associate professor of English.
In Oppenheimer’s Sept. 17 column, he writes of the journal: “Here you’ll find a lot of new poems, but even better, you will find essays that explain, at ample length, what’s going on in American poetry today. You will emerge from these essays excitedly confused, eager to stumble on.”
Readers of the Virginia Quarterly Review also will find writings by Caplan, including his essay, “American Poetry and Poetry Criticism Now.”
Caplan currently is serving as a Fulbright Lecturer in American Literature at the University of Liège in Belgium. While traveling abroad, he also has spoken or is scheduled to speak at Bar Ilan University in Israel; the Stern House, an artist colony in Jerusalem; Ghent University in Belgium; the University of Bonn in Germany; and Trinity College in Ireland.
