Ohio Wesleyan alumnus Jabez Co ’12, a member of the Columbus Symphony Chorus and associate flutist/piccoloist for the New Albany Symphony Orchestra, has received the International Sterling Achievement Award—the highest honor awarded by the international professional music fraternity, Mu Phi Epsilon. College seniors from each chapter are nominated for Province Achievement Awards, based on scholarship excellence and leadership abilities and participation in fraternity, academic, and professional activities during their undergraduate years. The winners from each province are then eligible for the Sterling Achievement Award. Co, who received a bachelor of music in music education, was president of Mu Phi Epsilon; principal flutist and assistant conductor of the OWU Chamber Orchestra; bass section leader of the Choral Art Society; and principal flutist of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble. He has received recognition from the American Society of Composers, Mu Phi Epsilon, and the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs.

“I was so humbled that the International Executive Board and Collegiate Advisor chose me to receive the Sterling Achievement Award,” says Co. “Only three previous OWU students have won this award. It made me extremely proud to represent the Mu Phi chapter at OWU.”
