It’s Fall…and Time for Homecoming & Family Weekend!
It’s true. Fall officially has arrived—not that we really needed our network meteorologists and news reporters to confirm that for us. We see the season unfold more each day during which the sun shines on the yellow-gold tree leaves; we feel the crispness of the morning air; and late in the day, as twilight arrives all too soon, we just know that fall is here. But seasonal change, though inevitable, has its delights and special charms.
On college campuses like Ohio Wesleyan’s, fall brings an invigorating sense of hope, renewal, and great energy—as students, professors, and staff, many who are recently reunited after the summer hiatus, settle in for a semester of learning, study, and spirit-raising events. Like Homecoming & Family Weekend, set for September 30 to October 2.
From the Munch and Mingle alumni-student networking reception to campus tours, concerts, a theatre production, athletics competitions, and Battling Bishop tailgate festivities, this year’s Homecoming & Family Weekend will allow us to show off (in a good way) our campus and celebrate OWU together. Don’t miss the All-Campus Celebration Dinner on Friday starting at 5:30 p.m. on the JAYwalk, but if you are so inclined, and are an early riser, you may be interested in the Saturday morning 5K Pumpkin Run!
“The Bigelow-Reed House dedication ceremony on Saturday morning is open to everyone, and will offer the opportunity to celebrate the unique aspects of this new living and learning center,” says Emily Roudebush, events planner and coordinator in the Office of University Relations. The house brings together those students having a shared interest in a certain area of study, in this case, business, economics, and entrepreneurial leadership.
“This year’s Homecoming & Family Weekend will be an exciting time for alumni, parents, families, and friends alike, to gather in Delaware and experience all that OWU has to offer,” says Roudebush. “We have so many events that will offer something for everyone!”
