Name: Sarah Flint ’16
Major: Accounting
Hometown: Westerville, Ohio
Experience: Internship with Honda North America’s New Model Cost Group
Lessons Learned: “Interning in Honda North America’s New Model Cost group was a great experience. I was able to see how a global corporation was run on a daily basis and how extensive the process of getting a new model vehicle to production really is. Every part that makes up a vehicle has to be accounted for, so checking and rechecking numbers is important in any situation. …
“At Honda, I learned how important it is to be concise. In accounting this is important because you have to be ethically sound and cannot take short cuts. You have to be trusted to do your job and do it correctly. I also learned how to interact in a team environment. I observed different departments compromising because they all had one goal: to get the new model to production with a financially sound plan.
“My experience definitely reinforced what I have learned in the classroom. Even in the classes I am taking now, I can take what I learned on the job and connect it to problems that occur in class. These connections help me understand more of what I was doing at Honda.
“The first time I stepped foot on Ohio Wesleyan’s campus as a sophomore in high school, I knew right away I wanted to go here. Ohio Wesleyan’s reputation attracted me because I knew I would become successful in this type of environment. I liked the size and felt comfortable here.”
