International Relations Expert to Analyze ‘America’s Syria Crisis’
Magnus Petersson
DELAWARE, Ohio – Magnus Petersson, professor of modern history at The Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies in Oslo, Norway, will discuss “America’s Syria Crisis: A View from Europe” Oct. 1 at Ohio Wesleyan University.
Petersson will speak at 4:10 p.m. in Room 312 of Ohio Wesleyan’s R.W. Corns Building, 78 S. Sandusky St., Delaware His presentation is free and open to the public.
From 1998 to 2008, Petersson was a lecturer, head of research and development, and director of studies at the Swedish National Defence College. During 2012-2013, he served as a visiting scholar at Boston University’s Department of International Relations.
Petersson has published multiple books and articles on Nordic security, defense transformation, and transatlantic relations. Most recently, he co-edited “NATO’s European Allies: Military Capability and Political Will,” with Janne Haaland Matlary, former state secretary for foreign affairs of Norway. The book was released in February. He also collaborated with Matlary and Hakan Edstrom of the Norwegian Defence University College to edit 2011’s “NATO: The Power of Partnerships (New Security Challenges).”
