Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.’s Legacy
Ohio Wesleyan University and the Delaware County Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee celebrated King’s legacy January 16 and explored the issue of “Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community?”
The event, held at OWU, featured remarks by the Rev. Dr. Valerie Bridgeman, founder of Woman Preach Inc. and an associate professor of Homiletics and Hebrew Bible at the Methodist Theological School of Ohio. Bridgeman also is a 2010 inductee into the Martin Luther King Jr. Collegium of Scholars and Preachers at Morehouse College in Atlanta.
Approximately 400 people attended the OWU celebration – one of the largest crowds in the event’s history. Proceeds will support future MLK Celebration Committee programs, including the MLK Scholarship, awarded annually to one or more outstanding high school graduates from Delaware County schools.
