Expert to Discuss Religion in The Roman Empire Nov. 2 at Ohio Wesleyan
DELAWARE, Ohio – Heidi Wendt, Ph.D., assistant professor of religion, philosophy, and classics at Wright State University, will discuss “Judaism and Christianity as Religion in the Roman Empire: The Case of the Apostle Paul,” when she speaks at 4 p.m. Nov. 2 at Ohio Wesleyan University.
Wendt’s free public presentation will be held in Room 330 of Slocum Hall, 75 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. Her discussion, sponsored by Ohio Wesleyan’s Classics Program, is the university’s 2015 Ruth Davies Lecture in Classics.
Wendt, an expert on Christianity and Judaism in the early Roman Empire, earned her doctorate in religious studies at Brown University. She has published in The Journal of Roman Studies, and is the author of the forthcoming Oxford University Press title, “The Religion of Freelance Experts in the Early Roman Empire.” She has presented research at the American Academy in Rome, the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome, and the Koninklijik Nederlands Institut in Rome.
