Digital Capabilities Strengthened with New Mellon Grant
Thanks to funding from the previous Mellon Grant, members of the OWU community now can access digital copies of ‘The Transcript’ back to 1874.
Sometimes, all good things don’t come to an end—just yet, anyway.
The Five Colleges of Ohio, Inc. a higher learning consortium including Ohio Wesleyan, Denison University, Kenyon College, The College of Wooster, and Oberlin College has been awarded a three-year $775,000 grant by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The grant, titled, “Digital Collections from Projects to Pedagogy and Scholarship” is a continuation of the three-year “Next Steps in the Next Generation Library” grant enabling librarians, faculty, and students to produce more than 50 digitation projects in a wide range of disciplines. The new grant was developed collaboratively by the Ohio Five libraries. It focuses on creating digital resources to enhance faculty and student research, teaching, and learning using emerging aspects of media literacy, scholarly communication, information literacy, information management, and digital publishing.
“With this new Mellon Grant, we are pleased in the OWU Libraries and the Ohio Five to extend our capacity to build and support digital projects and move into the emerging area of digital scholarship, an area of significant interest in the academic community,” says Catherine Cardwell, director of libraries at Ohio Wesleyan.
