The Columbus Crew—Ohio’s Major League Soccer team—will recognize the Battling Bishop men’s soccer team at the Crew’s 2012 “First Kick” home opener.

The Black & Gold’s “First Kick” begins at 4 p.m. March 24 at Columbus Crew Stadium, located 4 miles north of downtown Columbus off Interstate 71. The Crew will take on the Montreal Impact.

During half-time, the Crew will recognize the OWU men’s soccer players “for their extraordinary achievement of winning the NCAA Division III national title.”

The team’s December 2011 victory over Calvin College “also saw head coach, Jay Martin, notch up his 608th career victory elevating him to the perch of all-time leader in victories by a collegiate men’s soccer coach, at any division,” the Crew says on its website.

“We are calling on all Battling Bishops students, alumni, faculty, staff, families, and fans to come out and be a part of this memorable experience,” the Crew says.
