Austrian Government to Award Evan Bukey ’62 with State Prize

Evan B. Bukey ’62
The Austrian government will award Evan Bukey with the Karl von Vogelsang State Prize for the History of Social Sciences on April 25 in Vienna. Bukey, Ph.D., is a professor emeritus of history at the University of Arkansas and the award-winning author of three books, most recently “Jews and Intermarriage in Nazi Austria.”

Nicole J. Detling ’97
For the second time, sports psychologist Nicole Detling aids U.S. Olympians during the Winter Games. In Sochi, Russia, she worked with the U.S. Ski Team’s freestyle aerialists, short track speedskater Jessica Smith, and ski jumper Jessica Jerome. Detling also attended the 2010 games in Vancouver, Canada. At Ohio Wesleyan, she studied psychology and sports science, played basketball, and ran indoor/outdoor track.

Rachael Carter ’16
Rachael Carter ’16 photographs Ohio Wesleyan women’s basketball player Tamra Londot ’14 jumping for joy when the Bishops took the lead against the DePauw Tigers on Feb. 22. The Bishops won 65-64, ending DePauw’s 58-game winning streak. Carter’s photo was published online by d3hoops.com. Carter is an Economics Management Fellow and softball player from Berthoud, Colo.

Myron F. McCoy ’77
The Rev. Myron McCoy is appointed senior pastor of First United Methodist Church at the Chicago Temple, effective July 1. McCoy, who earned his OWU bachelor’s degree in political science and public administration, has served as a Trustee-at-Large since 2006.

Sarah J. Stewart Williams ’83
Sarah Williams is named marketing & sponsorship director for Westfarms Mall, a premier shopping destination in Farmington and West Hartford, Conn. Williams will be responsible for developing programs and events, community relations, and all marketing and sponsorship activities for the center. Williams is a senior certified marketing director with the International Council of Shopping Centers and earned her OWU bachelor’s degree in marketing and communications.

Martin R. Bielicki ’77
Martin Bielicki, a longtime Martin County High School coach, is named to Florida High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame. Bielicki coached five sports and won two volleyball state championships during his career.
