Artistic Alumni
Jim Zivic, Ohio Wesleyan Class of 1983, creates industrial-luxe furniture and flooring using steel, leather, coal, and aluminum. The owner of Jim Zivic Design, Zivic’s work has been collected by clients including Lou Reed, Yves Saint Laurent, Yoji Yamamoto, and Tom Ford.
Chris Kahler, OWU Class of 1991, creates “unruly abstractions,” paintings that seem “to enact the elemental processes of birth, struggle, and adaption.” Kahler is a professor at Eastern Illinois University.
Both Ohio Wesleyan alumni will discuss their work at a free artist talk at 3:10 p.m. Sept. 4 in Room 121 of Edgar Hall, 35 S. Sandusky St.
The discussion will be followed by a reception at 4 p.m. at the nearby Richard M. Ross Art Museum, 60 S. Sandusky St., where their artworks are on display through Sept. 21.
The museum is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. It is handicap-accessible and admission is always free.
