December 9, 2011, was a landmark day in Ohio Wesleyan athletics, even though there were no contests scheduled.

That Friday marked the launch of Ohio Wesleyan’s new athletics website, developed in conjunction with Sidearm Sports.

“We are very excited about the new site,” says Mark Cooper, director of marketing and communication. “Along with its core function of providing up-to-date information on all 23 varsity sports at Ohio Wesleyan, the new site provides much greater visual appeal and additional functionality.”

“We think it’s one of the best in Division III now,” says Roger Ingles, athletics director. “This was a good collaboration between athletics and communications in putting together the best website we could. So many new things allow us to be more creative and user-friendly for our fans and parents.”

Along with the new look, which features images more prominently than the previous site, new features at battlingbishops.com include searchable photo galleries, venues to purchase Ohio Wesleyan apparel and branded merchandise, and the ability to conduct online auctions.

“We have heard and responded to Ohio Wesleyan fans who are eager for more information and more avenues through which they can support their teams,” Cooper says.

“The new things it provides us, and the modern look are befitting a program that has such a rich history and a tradition of success,” Ingles adds.

“I especially want to acknowledge the great work of Sports Information Director Mark Beckenbach in the development and launch of the new site,” Cooper says. “His insights and knowledge about OWU athletics, and his tireless work over the past few months to provide content for the site have resulted in a great new forum for fans of the Bishops to enjoy.”

The new site will continue to expand as new information is added and content from the former site is migrated over the next several months.
