Ohio Wesleyan Celebrates the Bond of Being Bishops

So many exciting things are happening at Ohio Wesleyan University these days that Homecoming and Family Weekend practically burst at the seams this year, extending the celebration from Oct. 1 through Oct. 5.
The five days included the dedication of OWU’s new Simpson Querrey Fitness Center and an open house to celebrate the building’s Jannuzi Dance Studio, complete with a showcase performance by Cleveland-based Inlet Dance Theatre, including Joshua Brown ’04.
OWU also rededicated the 106-year-old Edwards Gymnasium, following a top-to-bottom renovation that added the Morrill Family Strength & Conditioning Room and restored the second-floor basketball court.
The celebration marched into Monday, when Ohio Wesleyan dedicated its new 74-foot stone labyrinth Oct. 5. The labyrinth, featured in a recent Columbus Dispatch article, is a gift to the campus in honor of Kathe Law Rhinesmith ’64.
In between the bookend of dedications, die-hard Bishops cheered on OWU athletes as they battled for victory, crowned a Homecoming Queen (Taylor Weis) and King (Ben Miller), honored new inductees into the “W” Association Athletics Hall of Fame, enjoyed the eye-catching artwork of Sally Christiansen Harris ’76, and much more.
