The Nancy Bihl Rutkowski Leadership Fellowship Program enables Ohio Wesleyan students to learn leadership theory and then apply their knowledge by practicing leadership in their communities and observing leadership in the workplace. This program prepares students for the complex challenges facing leaders.

This year-long experience begins in the fall, with meetings throughout the semester to review the curriculum. We utilize the Social Change Model of Leadership as a framework and CliftonStrengths as a tool to assess students' leadership capabilities. In the spring semester, students engage in a practicum experience off-campus, where they observe leadership in action. Additionally, each student will be assigned an OWU coach who will support their growth and development throughout the year.

The Nancy Bihl Rutkowski Leadership Fellowship consists of the following components:
  • Facilitator-led sessions where students learn leadership theory
  • Post-work to help prepare students for the next facilitator-led session and practice leadership
  • Practicum where students observe leadership in the workplace
  • Coaching sessions where students reflect on the leadership theory and practicum observations in a one-on-one setting
