Join us Thursday, Jan. 16, from 5-8 p.m. for Caribbean Transformers: Becoming and Being in the New World.

Come out of the cold! We'll have Caribbean-inspired food, music, and fun! Jamaican-born painter Alicia Brown examines the complex cultural forces faced by Caribbean natives living away from their homelands.

With a nod to iconic freedom fighters like Nanny of the Maroons, Brown highlights ideas of camouflage, transformation, and the reconstruction of identity. The work draws parallels to the resourcefulness of women in her own family and to the cultural practices preserved across generations and geographies.

The exhibition will be on view from Jan. 14-March 30.
