Looking for something to do Monday night? Come join Orchesis Dance Company in participating in an improvisation dance workshop taught by Katherine G. Moore! Katherine is a movement and teaching artist. This event is free and welcome to all students. All you need to bring is water and be dressed to move! Please fill out the Google form below so ODC can gauge how many students are interested and plan on attending the workshop. Her workshop, named “Improvisation as training,” will be a movement workshop exploring dance improvisation as a method of understanding the body from the inside out. Through improvisational movement, participants will learn to tune in to impulse, explore their own physical facility, and increase dynamic range. Katherine is offering a second follow-up workshop on 9/27 from 6-9 p.m., but only for those who attend the initial workshop on 9/18. This workshop, named “Improvisation as Choreography,” will be a movement workshop exploring dance improvisation as a tool for the creative process. Participants will learn to generate choreographic material from their own improvisations, as well as learn to recognize and manipulate choreographic form inside of improvisation play.
