Join us for the annual lighting of OWU’s Ron Hudler Memorial Christmas Tree.
The free, outdoor event will feature ornament-making, hot chocolate, and music. The Hudler tree is located north of Edwards Gymnasium, 105 S. Sandusky St., near the intersection of Park Avenue and Sandusky Street, where the lighting ceremony will be held.
The tree honors Ron Hudler, a 1956 Ohio Wesleyan graduate, who operated one of the nation’s largest Christmas tree farms, along with his three sons, prior to his death in 2008. To honor his memory, Hudler’s family donated a 14-foot spruce tree from his Hudler Carolina Tree Farms to the campus in 2008. Hudler’s twin brother, Don, also was a member of OWU’s Class of 1956.
After the lighting ceremony, everyone is invited to attend this year’s “Lessons and Carols” concert at 7 p.m. in Gray Chapel inside University Hall, 61 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. In addition to OWU performers, the concert will feature the Delaware Community Chorus, Powell United Methodist Church Chancel Choir, and Buckeye Valley High School Choir.
Both events are free and open to the public.
