Remember the top singles blasting on the radio in the fall of 1969? “Hot Fun in the Summertime,” “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye,” “Easy to Be Hard,” “Evil Ways,” “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” What a musical revolution we experienced during four extraordinary years!

You might recall a hazy room filled with friends—talking about everything and nothing, listening to new albums—Crosby, Stills & Nash, Sweet Baby James, Age of Aquarius, Led Zeppelin II, and Chicago Transit Authority—and poring over the liner notes to memorize the lyrics. Did you play the White Album backward to find hidden clues about Paul?

Flash back to concerts at various campus venues—Welch Hall, Gray Chapel or a starlit night at Selby Field—Richie Havens, Chicago, Jethro Tull, Mountain, the Allman Brothers, Fleetwood Mac—and the exhilaration of being in total harmony with others. Were you one of the happy, sweaty bodies dancing and swaying, singing along, enthralled by the magic of the music? Our adult lives stretched out in front of us, and anything seemed possible. For many of us, OWU introduced us to a whole new world of music—pop, album rock, soul and R&B, as well as protest, psychedelic, folk, jazz and classical music.

Whether you’ve attended every reunion over the past five decades or haven’t been in touch, you are a vital part of this 50th reunion.
