The Bishop Scholars Program provides an innovative approach to provide both an experiential teaching and learning experience, while also engaging in service learning, away from campus. Bishop Scholars provides intentional, high-dosage tutoring in Math and Reading to Kindergarten through eighth grade youth who have fallen behind academically, in large part due to the Pandemic. During the 2022-23 academic year, 75 OWU students served as tutors, providing 2,029 hours of educational tutoring to 219 youth in six partnering schools. School data reported to OWU demonstrated a 97% improvement in Math and 90% improvement in Reading from students' fall to spring test scores.
