BIOL 100 8 – Biodiversity and Society

This course explores earth’s biodiversity and species extinction from an evolutionary, biological, and societal perspective. We will identify the causes and patterns of past extinctions driven by geological changes and compare them to modern-day extinctions that are driven primarily by humans. We will also discuss why extinction and the loss of biodiversity matters by exploring the values and services biodiversity provides to human society.
